He is a virologist, hard at work on a vaccine to end the plague which is sweeping across the world. But the promised miracle cannot be isolated in time to save his daughter. The government says all dead bodies must be burned and the military is used to carry out this operation. They act swiftly and show the families no consideration. The air is thick with the smoke of the burning dead.

An outbreak of a highly infectious new variant caused thousands of locally transmitted cases and some people died. Targeted policing measures had failed to keep people compliant to containment policies. Soldiers were swiftly trained and deployed to ensure that lockdowns were being enforced in the virus hotspots. The premier said, “This is literally war.”

Oxytocin is sometimes called the “love drug” or the “cuddle chemical.” A hormone formed in the hypothalamus and released by the pituitary gland during sexual activity and childbirth, it has been much studied. A few years ago, Alan Watt covered a story where researchers showed that it also created strong in-group empathy, cooperation, conformity, defense of the group, and could therefore have application in generating these emotions and behaviors within soldiers. Band of brothers.

I encourage you to listen to the full two hours of this talk when you have time. A thread that ran throughout, was the Universal Soldier and how mercenaries are used. Alan said that young men “are tribal in nature and back in the '60's and '70's the United Nations was talking about creating a super-tribe of mixed people. That was the big problem: can we get blacks, white and Chinese and everyone else to create a new army of the world without them fighting each other? and they thought it could be done by using the psychology mainly of the young male, because young males are the same the world over regardless of what country they come from. They admitted that young men are not too bright. They're hormonally driven. They want to belong to the big tribe, the group, and each one wants to be a hero and be appreciated by the other members of the big, big team, the Army.”

The author of The Naked Ape: A Zoologist’s Study of the Human Animal, zoologist Desmond Morris participated in this UN study on the creation of a super-tribe, and he is still alive. At ninety-five, we wouldn’t expect him to be generating much work and indeed he has sustained criticism for stating that gender roles have a deep evolutionary rather than cultural background.

Morris is also an accomplished surrealist painter. This is his painting Disturbance in the Colony.

Recently someone sent me a documentary entitled 12/16/11: The Truth About What Happened in Zhanaozen. In what has been called the bloodiest page in Kazakhstan’s post-independence history, the police shot unarmed oil workers who were striking for better pay and conditions. Nearly a thousand oil workers had been on strike for almost eight months. They were encamped at Zhanaozen’s town square, which happens to be called the Alan. December 16 is Independence Day holiday, to mark Kazakhstan’s independence from the collapsed Soviet Union. 2011 that marked the twentieth anniversary of that declaration of independence, and the Alan was filled with townspeople and schoolchildren gathered to celebrate.

The strikers were angered by the indifference to their plight and their presence of the city officials who would organize an elaborate celebration next to where they had been camped for months. The school children were simply happy to be out on the streets playing. Some witnesses believe that provocateurs dressed to look like strikers leapt up to the Alan’s stage and kicked the loudspeakers to the ground.

From a side street, riot police marched toward the Alan and began firing upon the crowd. Strikers and residents alike were stunned. Firefighters and other government personnel were called to the scene to help the police. A young fireman in his early twenties named Torebek was phoned at his home and ordered to come aid police at the Alan. A former member of the military, Torebek’s fireman’s uniform consisted of his military garb, which he put on before he reported to his call of duty.

When Torebek arrived at the town square and saw what was happening he was frightened for all the schoolchildren because bullets seemed to be flying everywhere. He moved to protect a group of children and called out to a nearby flank of riot police, “Stop! You’re going to kill the children!” Moments later, Torebek was struck in the forehead with a bullet. His body fell forward to the ground. The wife of one of the striking oil workers was in the middle of the mayhem searching for her husband when she saw Torebek shot. Other witnesses stated that he was not shot by accident but rather the police deliberately killed him.

When a reporter later asked Lieutenant Colonel Sariyev why Torebek had been shot, he answered her, “The deceased was a military man, but he went over to the people’s side. That was why we shot him.”

On the day of the killings, local residents risked arrest and torture to smuggle out of the locked-down city video clips which showed how demonstrators were executed in cold blood. Numerous witnesses and human rights watch groups confirm the calculated, unprovoked nature of these killings. For three days following this horrible incident, the police and the military terrorized the civilian population of Zhanaozen.

Operation Warp Speed

In war, “a military engagement is a combat between two forces, neither larger than a division nor smaller than a company, in which each has an assignor perceived mission. An engagement begins when the attacking force initiates combat in pursuit of its mission, and ends when the attacker has accomplished the mission, or ceases to try to accomplish the mission.”

Operation Warp Speed was active from May 15, 2020 until February 24, 2021, lasting a period of 285 days. Its “engagement” is listed as Coronavirus disease 2019. Funded with about $10 billion from the CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) passed by the United States, because they care, Operation Warp Speed brought together a number of private firms and many different agencies including the Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, and the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA); the Department of Defense; and federal agencies, including the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Energy, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.

By December of 2020, Operation Warp Speed had already spent in excess of $12 billion on vaccine developers for R&D and research and pre-approval manufacturing for millions of doses of vaccines.

The Wagner Group is variously described as a private military company, a network of mercenaries and Vladimir Putin’s de facto private army. The average Wagner private military contractor (PMC) is a retired Russian army serviceman between the ages of 35 and 55 and his average pay is $670-2080 USD per month. They are active in the Ukraine, Syria, the Sudan and many other places throughout the world. They’ve been described as the mercenaries who offer “muscle to dictators.”

In a musical answer to Wagner in the Ukraine, the West countered with the Mozart Group, one of many groups of largely unregulated mercenaries operating in the region. Mozart disbanded in January 2023 claiming that they had run short of funds. In their ten operational months, they received funding from a group of East Coast financiers of Jewish-Ukrainian origin and an unnamed Texas tycoon.

Triple Canopy Inc. is a private security firm founded in 2003. It merged with rival firm Academi (formerly Blackwater.) Their parent company is the risk management firm called Constellis. That is an interesting name. Ptolemy identified the 12 constellations of the zodiac, 21 constellations north of the zodiac, and 15 constellations to the south. The 48 modern constellations are different from the 48 constellations named by Ptolemy, who like many who came after him, saw the constellations as asterisms, patterns formed by stars of one or more constellations.

In 2016, Constellis was bought for $1 billion by investment company Apollo Group. (Apollo is the Greek god of a whole lot of things: music, dance, healing, truth. He carries a silver or golden bow and a quiver of silver or golden arrows.)

Constellis’ revenue and net income are “unknown” which means unknowable to you and me. It has approximately 22,000 employees. Constellis Holdings Inc. operates in 40 countries and earns most of its revenues from the U.S. Federal government. Earlier this month, Constellis announced a record-breaking year with over $5 billion in contracts awarded in the previous twelve months.

I want to steer clear of conspiracy allegations, but I noticed that on February 19, 2023, a Texas billionaire by the name of Red McCombs died at the age of ninety-five. He was warmly remembered in many newspapers as having been the enthusiastic owner of sports franchises including the San Antonio Spurs, San Antonio Force, Denver Nuggets, and the Minnesota Vikings. He was on the Forbes 400 list of richest Americans. McCombs was the founder of Red McCombs Automotive Group, a co-founder of Clear Channel Communications and the former chairman of Constellis Group. A Texas tycoon.

I looked about for job openings to be a private military contractor with Triple Canopy Inc. and didn’t find much but I stumbled upon quite a few positions available in Ukraine through various organizations such as the UN and NGOs. These had names such as “Cash and Basic Needs Officer” for the International Rescue Committee and “Expert for Countering Disinformation” for Alinea in Ukraine. Alinea describes itself as one of Canada’s leading development firms. Other jobs on the UN board included “Senior Operations Manager” for Global Communities, a company which says it “works at the intersection of humanitarian assistance, sustainable development and financial inclusion.”

Still looking for something that sounded more like being a soldier, I investigated Silent Professionals which is a private security job market. They only had one listing for Ukraine on their site, but the pay was good. They are offering $1000-2000 per day plus bonuses for an Extraction/Protection agent. Job ID #67032. This is part of the job description:

Employer is a US-based corporation seeking multiple Extraction / Protective Agents and teams to conduct part-time, covert, extraction / evacuation operations of individuals and families throughout the countryside and major cities of Ukraine. Both male and female agents are welcome to apply. Only highly experienced candidates who possess at least 5+ years of military experience in this region of Europe will be considered for this role – no exceptions.

According to the U.S. Department of State website, “Since January 2021, the United States has invested more than $30.4 billion in security assistance to demonstrate our enduring and steadfast commitment to Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. This includes $29.8 billion since Russia’s launched its premeditated, unprovoked, and brutal war against Ukraine on February 24. Since 2014, the United States has provided more than $32.5 billion in security assistance for training and equipment to help Ukraine preserve its territorial integrity, secure its borders, and improve interoperability with NATO.”

See their website for a listing of some of the weaponry these billions have bought. Surface-to-air missiles, hundreds of thousands of various types of rounds and ammunitions, armored personnel carriers, rockets, radars, satellite communications antennas, helicopters, tanks, et cetera.
